End Of Term 2

School's Out!!! Well for 2 weeks anyway. We were so busy this term with activities that our support group didn't even have the time to organise an end of term function and certificate presentation. However one of our verykind mums still took the time to put together some certificates for the kids (thanks Courtney).

Now I've just realised that I have a few lapbooks that I haven't taken any photo's of to show you. I will get that onto that and get the images up as soon as I can.

Dance Wrap Up

Everything is coming to an end, our winter break is only a few days away and today we had our last dance lesson for the term. A picture tells a thousand words, so why not let the video clip do the talking.

It looks at though Miss Sunday wil be coming to take private dance lessons for our kids next term so that's very exciting.

Art Pieces Term 2 2009

Another great term of art at Logan Artists. B7 really has come along way with his clay sculpture and has learnt so many techniques. Even trying his hand at the Pottery Wheel this time round.

Posted by Picasa
He still has a bit of finishing off to do here. The abstract painting requires a bit more work as do a few of his sculptures. Once they get some colour on them they will come to life.

We are taking a break from these art classes for a term or so, even though we love them. We'll spend some time getting back into our Artistic Pursuits art program at home.

Looking All Pretty

Ahhh that's so much nicer isn't it. Our little blog is starting to look nice and pretty now thanks to Delightful Dots. It was so simple too, everything is laid out step by step for you to follow.

Thanks Delightful Dots.

Good Reads

I often come across articles and blog posts that I want to keep, to refer to from time to time, to go back and read again. Many of them I share with friends over and over again, but I struggle as to how I organise those 'good reads', the 'must reads' and most of the time they end up lost in the sea of bookmarks that is here hiding just under the surface of my bottomless pit of bookmarks!

So I am going to gather them, slowly of course, we certainly can't do anything to quickly now can we?! Gather them right here altogher, hopefully grouped under appropriate headings to make them somewhat easier to find.

New Writing and Drawing Desk

We were around the corner earlier dropping off some unwanted items at our local Vinnies this morning and saw this cute little desk sitting out the front for the grand sum of $5, yep that's right $5. I've often looked at these but never thought they were worth the money, but this one is in near perfect condition, it was a nice little find.

Preschool Activity Bags

Preschool Activities in a Bag has been on my must purchase list for some time now. My only problem is finding the time to create all of the activities, which is why I haven't as yet purchased one of the e-books. (yeah slack I know)

However, Teaching My Little Bookworm is giving away one of each of the EBooks. I guess if I won one, which would be fabulous, I'd have to get off my b%$ and put together the activities. hehehe

These would be great to do as a group swap, as they suggest on their website. Must make a note to talk to the girls in our homeschool group to see if there is any interest in doing a swap like this. If any of you are reading this let me know what you think.

Anyway, if you would like a chance to win a copy of one of these, jump on over to Teaching My Little Bookworm.

Quick Update

Ok I know I haven't been here much of late, no real excuses, just busy with life. So anyway here are a few pics with just a bit of what we've been up to this past week or so.

We had an absolutley fabulous up close and personal experience with some reptiles. Brian from Crocodiles and Dragons brought his little brood along for us to enjoy.

With only 20 children there everyone got up very close and in most cases they all got to hold the reptiles as well. This was fantastic! One of the best wildlife experiences we've had yet.

This has to be one of the best upsides to homeschooling - small groups mean more hands on and way more fun! No looking from the back over the heads of 40 or so other children here, my kids were right in the middle of it.

With Bearded Dragons

And Shingle Back Lizards

To Blue Tongues (B7 looks really into it here)

But when he actually touches the lizard, he's not so sure.

And a lively Turtle,

To a huge Crocodile. We all knew he had a crocodile in that box but no one ever expected it to be so big. He wasn't overly happy that day so was only out for a short play....I'd say that was probably a good thing hehehe

And then there was this experience. I am still totally blown away that both B7 and K4 were up for this, they did great and both seemed to really enjoy the experience.

Mum on the other hand,

Well, let's just say that isn't quite a smile of joy. CBub, however was really quite intrigued, especially when the snake decided to slither and move right around the back of his neck.

Definitely a fantastic opportunity and one I am sure the kids will remember for a log time to come.
I hadn't planned on doing any extension activities after the presentation, but the kids were eager. So we have been putting together a simple lapbook (since mum had nothing organised) I grabbed everything I needed from Home School Share - thanks guys.

We also had our second Art Gallery Workshop and were lucky enough to have the artist with us again. This time we tried our hand at Paper Cutting Techniques, some of which were quite tricky. Everyone added a piece or two to the huge wall mural the Art Gallery was creating.
The kids also made these nifty little notepad holders at bunnings, they enjoyed that. Sanding, gluing, painting, hammering and this is what we ended up with.

Art & Craft Blogs I Enjoy

No Time For Flash Cards The Crafty Crow

Must Be Doing Something Right, Maybe!

Just a little mummy brag here ;)

Not only do I have 100% confidence in leaving B7 to play with and watch CBub (now 10 months) for the 5 or so minutes that I am in the shower every morning; he really is fabulous with him. But this morning I came out to find my bed made, perfectly (well no better than I would do anyway) and K4's bed made also (she sleeps in our room).

Isn't he just a wonderful son, really can you teach that kind of stuff, I'm certainly starting to wonder!!! He did proceed to run away though when I tried to give him a big hug and kiss for being so thoughtful.

Now you gotta love that. :) :)
